The Brief Orgin and Family Tree of Jean Grey Summers:

 

Jean Grey-Summers was born the daughter of Dr. John Grey and Elaine Grey. Once joining the X-Men Jean falls in Love with Scott Summers, Cyclops. Jean then encounters the Phoenix Entity and becomes "The Phoenix".
When the Phoenix Entity encounters Jean it actually made a copy of her and left her in a cocoon of suspended animation at the bottom of the lake.
As the Phoenix develops her powers they become all consuming and great she then becomes the Dark Phoenix. The Shi'ar learns of the great destruction she can cause and is forced to destroy her.
Once Mr. Sinister's becomes aware of Jeans Death, he uses her DNA and clones her making Madelyn Pryor.
After the death of The Phoenix, Scott believing Madelyn Pryor to be Jean, he immediately marry's Madelyn and has a child with her, Nathan Summers.
With the help of Mr. Sinister, Madelyn becomes the Evil Goblyn Queen.
Scott must then destroy The Goblyn Queen and send Nathan into the future to preserve all of mankind.
Cable, Also know as Nathan Summers leads the rebellion team X-Force.
Over time Jean awakens from her cocoon like state and reemerges from the ashes and reunites with X-men.
As time passes a future daughter emerges into the present time know as Rachel Summers. She then joins the X-Team, Excalibur and occasionally fight along side her mother, Jean Grey Summers.
